The Polish authorities announced the temporary closure of the airports in Rzeszow and Lublin due to Russian attacks on Ukraine, in order to ensure the functioning of military aviation. Rzeszow is an important NATO center for supplying weapons to Ukraine, and the closure was communicated by the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency.
The Federal Aviation Administration of the USA confirmed that the airports were suspended due to "unplanned military activities." The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces has mobilized forces and resources, activating air defense systems to ensure the security of the airspace. These preventive measures come in the context of recent Russian attacks on Ukraine. The airports were also closed last month, but then for routine operations, without external threats.
