Airbus has announced a new quality issue with aircraft from the A320 family, related to metal panels produced by a subcontractor. Although the company states that the situation is 'identified' and 'limited', checks are ongoing, and some aircraft may require additional interventions. This issue has generated a swift reaction in the financial markets, causing Airbus shares to drop on the Paris Stock Exchange.

The spokesperson confirmed that only a few dozen aircraft are affected, and deliveries are already delayed. The incident comes after Airbus had managed to return the A320 fleets to normalcy, following a software update mandated by aviation authorities. Despite the issues, aircraft already in service are not affected, but delays may impact the delivery of new planes.

Airbus has an ambitious delivery target for the current year, aiming for approximately 820 aircraft, which requires a record delivery pace in December.
