The Ministry of Defense of Latvia declared a threat to the airspace in the regions of Ludza, Rēzekne, and Krāslava on Thursday morning at 10:45.
The Latvian armed forces have launched NATO surveillance aircraft, marking the third consecutive day of alerts. Fighter jets from the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission have been activated to monitor the situation. The Latvian army has strengthened air defense capabilities at the eastern border, and the Crisis Management Center emphasized that residents should not evacuate public buildings but should seek shelter in safe places.
In recent days, residents of Latgale and Vidzeme have received alerts via mobile phones, but no drones have been detected in Latvian airspace.
