Air France is strengthening its premium strategy through investments in luxury cabins, refined menus, and dedicated services for high-income passengers, at a time when the airline industry is being affected by rising fuel costs and changing flight routes amid the war with Iran.

The French company has chosen to continue spending on the premium segment instead of cutting investments. Menus have been upgraded with products from luxury brands, while the first-class and business-class cabins have been refurbished. The strategy also relies on Paris’s image as a destination associated with fashion, gastronomy, luxury hotels, and Michelin-starred restaurants.

According to CEO Ben Smith, bookings and revenue from premium, business-class, and first-class travel have increased, even after fares were raised. Air France reported an 11% increase in revenue generated by this segment.

Smith says demand remains strong, and some customers who previously used private jets are now choosing first-class cabins. This shift is also linked to criticism over emissions generated by private flights.
