Tchéky Karyo, a renowned Franco-Turkish actor, passed away on Friday, October 31, at the age of 72, due to cancer, according to a family statement. Born in Istanbul in 1953, Karyo became known in the 1980s, especially for his role in the film 'The Bear' ('L'Ours'), where he played a remorseful hunter. He achieved another major success in 1990 with his role in 'Nikita', alongside Anne Parillaud. His career was marked by collaborations with renowned directors, such as Jean-Pierre Jeunet in 'Amélie' and Ridley Scott in '1492 - Conquest of Paradise'. Karyo was a talented polyglot, fluent in several languages, and had a successful career on stage, participating in the Avignon Theatre Festival. He emphasized the importance of dramatic art in personal development, considering it a way to access new perspectives.
