An accident occurred at the Macugnaga cable car in the Piedmont region of Italy, resulting in two injuries, after which the system became stuck. The incident took place at the Monte Moro mountain station, at an altitude of 2,800 meters, possibly due to a sudden stop of the cable car. The injured, assisted by a doctor on site, will be evacuated by medical helicopter, and their lives are not in danger.
Approximately 100 people, including children, are trapped in the cable car, and rescue teams are using helicopters for evacuation. The accident happened around 11:25 AM when the cable car hit the barrier at the arrival station. The ski slopes have been closed, and the recently serviced cable car has been taken out of operation for checks. The cable car administrator confirmed that emergency systems were activated, but no major damage was reported.
