A tour guide accompanying a group of tourists to the Colosseum died after falling ill inside the monument

The tragic incident took place on August 20, when Giovanna Maria Giomarino, an experienced tour guide, collapsed during a tour in temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius. Efforts by tourists to revive her were unsuccessful. Her colleagues stressed that her death was a result of the difficult working conditions, calling for measures to protect guides from overheating. As a mark of respect, they suggested closing the Colosseum for the rest of the day.
