A revised magnitude 7.2 earthquake was recorded on Thursday in the Pacific Ocean, off the coast of Iwate Prefecture, at a depth of 44 kilometers, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. Initially, the magnitude was estimated at 6.9, and the depth at 50 km.

The Japanese government's spokesperson, Minoru Kihara, stated that there is no information about casualties, but authorities will continue to monitor the situation. Although no major damage has been reported, some goods were knocked over in stores, and the Shinkansen high-speed trains were temporarily suspended.

Japan, located at the intersection of several tectonic plates, frequently experiences earthquakes, and the memory of the devastating earthquake in 2011, which led to a nuclear disaster, remains vivid in the public's consciousness.
