A 6.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in the area of Mindanao island, located in the south of the Philippines, according to the Phivolcs seismology agency. The epicenter of the earthquake was located 164 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso, in Davao Oriental province, and it occurred at a depth of 86 kilometers.

The director of Phivolcs, Teresito Bacolcol, explained that this earthquake originated along the Philippine trench and is not related to the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on June 8, which occurred over 250 kilometers away. Although last week's earthquake caused 65 casualties and 36 missing persons, authorities did not report any material damage from Monday's quake.
