A 6.1 magnitude earthquake has been recorded on the Greek island of Crete. Tsunami possible

An earthquake with a moment magnitude of 6.1 hit the Greek island of Crete on Tuesday night, occurring near the shore at a depth of 78.4 kilometers.

The quake was felt throughout the Dodecanese archipelago, but so far no damage or casualties have been reported. The quake was also felt in Turkey and Egypt.

Local residents received a phone alert warning of a possible tsunami and were urged to move away from the coast.
