On Monday morning, July 14, a 5.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in southern Spain, in the Cabo de Palos area, about 70 km from Almería. The earthquake, recorded at 7:13 in the Mediterranean Sea, was also felt in various localities in the province of Malaga, including on the Costa del Sol. The epicentre was located 244 km from Malaga and the authorities issued alerts via mobile phone notifications. No material damage or casualties have been reported so far, but the authorities continue to monitor the situation.
