Chapter 3: The Direction of the Country
According to BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research, edition IV, conducted between October 6-10, 2025, only a quarter of Romanians believe that the country is heading in a good direction.
BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research is a monthly opinion poll conducted by INSCOP Research on behalf of the news platform Informat.ro in partnership with the Strategic Thinking Group think tank.
BAROMETER Informat.ro – INSCOP Research aims to bring to the public's attention topics of interest to stimulate national conversations about various subjects and essential public policies for the present and future of Romania, based on the opinions of Romanians in partnership with prestigious think tanks and academic institutions. It is an initiative through which we aim to contribute to the strengthening of democracy by using scientific and credible tools that bring the voice of citizens to the forefront of public debate.
Methodology: The data was collected between October 6-10, 2025. Research method: interview via questionnaire. The data was collected using the CATI method (telephone interviews), with a simple stratified sample volume of 1100 people, representative of significant socio-demographic categories (gender, age, occupation) for the non-institutionalized population of Romania, aged 18 and over. The maximum allowable error of the data is ± 2.95%, at a confidence level of 95%.

The Direction of the Country
25% of Romanians believe that things in Romania are heading in a good direction (compared to 25.6% in September 2025). 65.5% believe that things are going in the wrong direction (compared to 68.6% in September 2025), while 9.5% do not know or do not respond.
Believe that things in Romania are heading in a good direction: 14% of PSD voters, 54% of PNL voters, 67% of USR voters, and 8% of AUR voters, respectively 29% of men and 21% of women, 40% of young people under 30 years old, 26% of those aged between 30 and 44 years, 26% of people aged between 45 and 59 years, 16% of those over 60 years old, 9% of people with primary education, 23% of those with secondary education, 51% of those with higher education, 36% of residents of Bucharest, 34% of those from urban areas with over 90 thousand inhabitants, 20% of those from small urban areas, and 20% from rural areas, 37% of public sector employees and 34% of those working in the private sector.
Believe that the country is heading in the wrong direction: 75% of PSD voters, 40% of PNL voters, 22% of USR voters, and 87% of AUR voters, respectively 64% of men and 67% of women, 48% of young people under 30 years old, 65% of those aged between 30 and 44 years, 67% of people aged between 45 and 59 years, 73% of those over 60 years old, 81% of people with primary education, 67% of those with secondary education, 40% of those with higher education, 56% of residents of Bucharest, 53% of those from urban areas with over 90 thousand inhabitants, 69% of those from small urban areas, and 72% from rural areas, respectively 50% of public sector employees and 61% of those working in the private sector.
