The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announced a draft order proposing significant reforms in the organization of hospital shifts, aimed at increasing the number of surgeries. The project, published in decision-making transparency, targets the reorganization of medical services in day hospitalization and the flexibility of surgical activity in the operating room. According to the minister, the operating room will be able to function from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with successive shifts organized, which will allow for more interventions and reduce waiting times. Additionally, the project introduces four categories of shifts: emergency shift, monitoring shift, home shift, and interventional shift for specialties that require specific interventions. Hospitals will have the freedom to organize their shifts in 12, 18, or 24-hour regimes, thus adapting to the needs of patients and available resources. Rogobete emphasizes that these changes are essential to respond to the current challenges in the healthcare system and to improve the services offered to patients.
