Researchers at the Pasteur Institute in Paris have found that the COVID-19 virus can infect the brain and persist for up to 80 days, causing neuronal dysfunctions associated with depression, anxiety and memory disorders. The study, published in the journal Nature Communications, highlights the long-term impact of the virus on the central nervous system, similar to the effects of neurodegenerative diseases. Another study also showed that the human brain aged by five and a half months during the pandemic, even in those not infected.
