Prof. univ. dr. Victoria Aramă, head of the department at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases 'Prof. Dr. Matei Balș' and president of the Romanian Society for Vaccination Strategies, stated that hospitals are 'overcrowded' with patients suffering from the flu, 99% of whom are unvaccinated. The majority of patients are elderly or adults with chronic conditions, who arrive with severe forms of the flu, requiring oxygen and having complications such as pneumonia.

Aramă emphasized that the pressure on hospitals would be much lower if there were a higher percentage of vaccinated individuals. She also highlighted the importance of promoting the concept of lifelong vaccination, which includes not only children but also adults and the elderly. The statements were made during the presentation of an INSCOP survey on the attitudes of parents and grandparents towards the flu vaccination of children, an event organized by the Association of Private Schools in Romania.
