The recall began in Romania and has expanded internationally, affecting countries in Europe, North America, and South America, as well as Asia, including China and Brazil. Although no cases of illness associated with the recalled products have been reported, the Brazilian Ministry of Health emphasized that the action is preventive. The toxin, stable at high temperatures, cannot be destroyed by cooking, and consumption of it can lead to rapid symptoms. The recall poses a challenge for Nestlé's new CEO, Philipp Navratil, in the context of a recent decline in the company's shares. Nestlé, the world's largest food company, operates in 189 countries and has over 300,000 employees.
