The draft law adopted by Parliament aims to prevent cervical cancer, a serious problem in Romania, where the incidence is almost three times higher than the EU average. HPV screening and vaccination will be free for girls and boys aged 11-26 years under the National Vaccination Program. This measure is essential as the risk of diagnosis and death from cervical cancer is significantly higher in Romania. The bill needs to be promulgated by the President to enter into force.
