Digital Duel by NewsVibe. TOP 5 parties in the Romanian online space, in the last week

The last week has brought an intensification of the media debate around the political parties, following the agreement reached between PSD, PNL, USR and UDMR, the appointment of Ilie Bolojan as Prime Minister and the installation of a new Government at the Victoria Palace, formed around the four parties. The installation of the new Executive, after weeks of intense negotiations, was the defining event of the period under review.
Media sources also paid attention to the measures envisaged to reduce the budget deficit, considered the main challenge of the new government.
At the political level, the USR Congress validated the party's mayor, Dominic Fritz, as president of the party.
Intensification of party media coverage was also reflected in the most relevant online sources, where, compared to the previous week, according to data analyzed with NewsVibe, an AI-supported media intelligence software, the number of mentions increased for all the parties in the top, albeit in different proportions. The biggest increases, compared to the previous interval, were recorded by PNL (+24%), PSD (+32%) and SOS Romania, which had an increase of over 150% (although the total volume of mentions remains very low).
These developments have not, however, changed the ranking of the previous period.

- Save Romania Union - 2,581 mentions
- National Liberal Party - 2,311 mentions
- Alianța pentru Unirea Românilor - 449 mentions

In contrast, AUR has an estimated impact of 8%, although its mentions account for only 5% of the total volume.

NETWORK ANALYSIS. The tool created by NewsVibe - semantic network analysis - provides instant answers in an intuitive visual format that quickly highlights connections between actors, themes and concepts, without the need for complex interpretation or time-consuming data processing. Network analysis visualizes the relationships between topics, personalities and themes based on their co-occurrence in mentions collected from the most influential online sources in Romania. NewsVibe applies advanced methods of artificial intelligence and machine learning to build interaction maps that highlight: the central actors of a conversation, how they are connected to each other, the clusters of topics, concepts and influencers (personalities and organizations) that have formed around an event, topic or idea.

What does the analysis tell us?
- The Green Cluster, with the PSD at its center, remains one of the most consistent on the network. It is made up of dense and thematically close nodes, such as Sorin Grindeanu, Mihai Busuioc, Govern, Camera of Deputies or Party of Social Democrats, reflecting the positioning of PSD as an important component of the new government, even if it does not hold the position of prime minister, but also as an actor in other power games, such as the appointments of judges to the Romanian Constitutional Court or the election of the presidents of the parliamentary chambers. It is a cluster anchored in administrative and institutional issues, with few extensions into the opposition or conflict zone.
- The red cluster, with large nodes such as Ilie Bolojan, Nicușor Dan, Romania, but also, smaller ones, Government, TVA and Palatul Cotroceni, concentrates the conversations related to the installation of the new Government and its economic and political agenda. It is currently the most influential political cluster of the network, signaling the takeover of the semantic center by PNL and Ilie Bolojan. The separate but connected positioning with other clusters reflects the consolidation of the PNL as a power core in the new governmental landscape.
- The Blue Cluster, with USR at its center and visible nodes such as Dominic Fritz, USR Congress, Save Romania Union and Bucharest, represents the reformist component of the current government. It is directly connected to the ministers' turquoise and red clusters, as well as the AUR, through a series of tense interactions in the public space. The connection with AUR does not indicate alliance, but open political conflict - a result of the attacks and counter-attacks of recent days.
- The Turquoise Cluster is associated with the new incumbent government - i.e. the team of ministers, especially those proposed by USR and PNL. Nodes such as Oana Țoiu, Ionuț Moșteanu, Diana Buzoianu, as well as references to "Chamber of Deputies" or "Bolojan Government" show a consolidated presence in the online discourse of the members of the current executive. Its positioning between the PNL and USR clusters reflects the balance of forces in the governing coalition and the increased interest in individual ministers.
- The Purple Cluster, formed around the POT formation, remains completely semantically isolated. Its marginal positioning shows lips in relevance in the conversation about government, despite occasional appearances in the online space.
SENTENCE. NewsVibe's platform has created an advanced sentiment analysis system that uses artificial intelligence, specially trained algorithms, and LLM-like language models to detect nuances of tone - favorable, unfavorable, or neutral - in the context of references to entities relevant to an online conversation.
Grafic NewsVibe. Automated online conversation tone ratings of the main 5 parliamentary parties by week
PSD is one of the most prominent terms in online conversations in the last week and appears mainly in contexts with unfavorable tone. The name is highlighted alongside terms such as "Government", "Ciolacu", "Sorin Grindeanu" or "Adrian Caciu", which also appear in shades of red, indicating a critical or tense register of the conversations in which they are included.

Associated terms such as "Dominic Fritz", "Oana Țoiu", "Ionuț Moșteanu", "USR Ministers" and "Bolojan Government" are present in the graph. Ilie Bolojan is associated with a predominantly favorable tone. His name appears several times in sentiment graphs, in variants such as "Ilie Bolojan", "Bolojan" or "Bolojan Government", all framed in green. This shows that the digital discourse around him this week has been marked by positive or supportive tones.Romania is a frequently mentioned term and appears predominantly in green. Alongside it, other general context terms such as "Europe", "European Union" or "NATO" appear in conversations with a favorable tone. The presence of these terms indicates topics of broad public interest, treated in a relatively positive register.
AUR and George Simion are mentioned in conversations with unfavorable tone, together with terms such as "AUR parliamentarians" or "Russia". The tone of these mentions suggests association with critical, negatively charged contexts in online discussions.
Diana Șoșoaca and SOS Romania also appear in the red register of the graph. These mentions are clustered in the unfavorable tone zone, with no obvious extensions into the favorable register.
Other actors of the new government, such as Diana Buzoianu, Radu Miruța or Florin Barbu, appear in the green area of the graph.
