According to data provided by the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), the year 2025 was the third warmest year ever recorded, and the last three years have been the hottest in the history of measurements. The global average temperature in 2025 was just 0.01 degrees Celsius lower than in 2023, while 2024 remains the warmest year recorded. Scientists warn that exceeding the 1.5°C threshold for global warming, established in the Paris Agreement, could occur before 2030 due to insufficient greenhouse gas emissions.

In 2025, wildfires in Europe generated the highest carbon emissions ever recorded on the continent, and climate change exacerbated extreme phenomena such as Hurricane Melissa and monsoon rains in Pakistan. Additionally, the sea ice extent in the Arctic and Antarctica reached a historic low. Despite clear evidence of climate change, scientific research faces increasing political opposition, but the global scientific consensus remains firm regarding the human causes of these changes.
