The millennial olive tree in the village of Mirovica, Montenegro, has been brought back to life after being on the brink of extinction due to excessive soil moisture. Locals, concerned about the tree's condition, initiated drainage works to save it.

In 2025, the olive tree began to produce olives again, just in time to celebrate its age of 2,250 years, confirmed by a research team from Turkey. Marija Markoc, the director of the Olive House, emphasized the importance of this tree, which has witnessed historical and cultural events in the area.

The olive tree attracts tens of thousands of tourists annually, who respect the tradition of circling it three times for health, love, and luck. Marija Markoc feels honored and responsible to take care of this symbol of the community, which continues to provide olives and bring joy to locals and visitors.
