The study, published in the scientific journal Nature, revealed that, along with the decrease in the number of new trees, the branches and trunks of dead trees, known as woody biomass, have begun to emit carbon into the atmosphere instead of absorbing it. The report also highlighted an increase in the number of cyclones, which have led to the death of several trees and difficulties in their regeneration.
