The report 'State of the Climate - Romania 2025' highlights the impact of climate change on the country, with an increase in the average annual temperature of 3.01 degrees Celsius compared to 1971-2000. The years 2023 and 2024 have been the hottest, with records of heatwaves and high temperatures. Experts warn that these phenomena are becoming recurrent, affecting agriculture and water resources, and projections suggest warming of up to +4.24 degrees Celsius by 2100.

The severe drought that began in March 2022 has led to significant losses in agriculture, and aridification affects 51% of the country's area. The distribution of precipitation is becoming chaotic, with drier summers and torrential rains in autumn, increasing the risks of drought and flooding. Additionally, severe storms have become frequent, with over 1,000 extreme events reported in 2024, causing major destruction and significant damages. Vulnerability is unevenly distributed among counties, and projections indicate an increase in hailstorms. The report emphasizes the need for adaptation policies to address these climate challenges.
