RetuRO, the administrator of the Guarantee-Return System (SGR) in Romania, announced that since the launch of this system, over 8.9 billion packages have been collected. In the first month of 2024, approximately 356 million packages were returned, exceeding the 330 million introduced into the market, resulting in a return rate of 108%. This performance reflects a strengthening collection process, influenced by the gap between purchase and return. Additionally, over 647,000 tons of materials have been sent to recyclers. RetuRO operates on a not-for-profit principle, reinvesting any profits into the development of the SGR, and is supported by a consortium of private and state shareholders. The company contributes to the circular economy and responsible waste management, supporting Romania in achieving the recycling targets set by the European Union.
