In the first half of 2025, renewable energy surpassed coal as the main source of electricity globally, according to Ember data. Electricity demand has increased, but the growth of solar and wind energy has met this demand, reducing coal usage. China leads in the expansion of clean energy, while developed countries like the USA and EU have increased their dependence on fossil fuels. This change is considered a turning point, with solar energy covering 83% of the additional demand, but challenges persist, especially in managing water resources in certain regions.
