In the second round of the 2025 presidential elections, George Simion won in Germany, Italy, Spain, France and the United Kingdom, but the difference with Nicușor Dan was smaller than expected. Simion got 55.86% of the votes (912,553), while Dan got 44.14% (720,996). Although he dominated in Western Europe, Nicușor Dan won in the United States, Canada and the Republic of Moldova, where he had a significant lead. The mobilization of Romanians in the diaspora was record, with 1,633,549 votes cast.
