George Simion, leader of AUR, is the favorite in the race for the Romanian presidency, with 35-38% support in the polls. Sociologist Remus Ștefureac points out that despite the scandals affecting other candidates such as Nicușor Dan, Crin Antonescu and Victor Ponta, they are in a tight race for second place, with each having equal chances. Simion could benefit from the PSD votes in the second round, complicating matters for his opponents.
