The Day of the Educator brings students and teachers in Romania a day off, without the conduct of educational activities.

Teacher's Day is celebrated in Romania in a way considered paradoxical by some: by suspending educational activities. Based on the collective labor contract in education, schools interrupt classes on this day, a measure affecting approximately 2.94 million students and 220,000 teachers. While in other countries education is marked by activities carried out in educational institutions, in Romania students stay at home, a situation that can create logistical difficulties for many parents. Compared to other European states, the number of school days is already reduced, and granting additional days off fuels the debate regarding the actual time spent in classes. Although Romanian students achieve remarkable results at international competitions, the education system continues to face high dropout rates. In this context, the decision to mark Teacher's Day by suspending classes raises questions about the direction of Romanian education and the long-term effects on future generations.
