The independent national reports on scientific and digital literacy, developed by UNICEF, show that only 43% of Romanian students achieve a functional level of scientific literacy. Almost 32% of students are at risk of not understanding basic scientific concepts. Regarding digital literacy, 55% of students are in the transition zone, having partial competencies, and only 0.2% reach the highest level of competence. The Ministry of Education and Research emphasizes that this data is essential for understanding the level of development of students' competencies and for underpinning the necessary reforms in education.
