According to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), vehicle registrations for freight transport recorded a decline of 1.4%. New cars accounted for 23.3% of total registrations, down by 2.7 percentage points compared to the first quarter of 2025, and the decrease in this segment was 10%. However, not all categories experienced a negative trend; registrations of mopeds and motorcycles increased by 23.4%, while those of buses and minibuses rose by 2.5%. In contrast, tractors advanced by 7.5%, but trucks decreased by 7.2%. Compared to the last three months of last year, registrations fell by 18.4% for passenger vehicles and by 7.6% for freight vehicles. At the end of the first quarter of 2026, only 5.5% of buses and minibuses were electric, and 66.7% of the vehicle fleet complied with Euro 4, Euro 5, or Euro 6 standards.
