The agreement allows the US to help extract untapped oil deposits in Pakistan, particularly in Balochistan province, where there is an active separatist movement. President Trump announced the collaboration on the Truth Social platform, noting that an oil company is being sought for the partnership. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the deal, which was considered 'long overdue'. Pakistan has wanted the trade deal since May following the mediation of a ceasefire between Pakistan and India.
