The National Institute of Statistics (INS) reported that the unemployment rate in Romania reached 5.9% in September 2025, the same value as in August. The unemployment rate is higher among men, at 6.1%, compared to 5.6% for women. The total number of unemployed aged between 15 and 74 years increased to 482,500, compared to 481,000 in the previous month and 465,800 in the same period of 2024. INS also highlights an alarming level of youth unemployment, which reached 23.5% in the period from April to June 2025, emphasizing the challenges faced by this age group in the labor market.
