The governing coalition has decided on a budget adjustment to a deficit of 8.4% of GDP, in order to cover unforeseen expenses, which raises questions about financial sustainability.

The budget rectification was necessary to cover real expenses, increasing the deficit from 7% to 8.4% of GDP, equivalent to 159 billion lei. This includes increases for pensions, salaries, and health, but also involves risks of additional borrowing. The government emphasizes that it maintains allocations for investments, but experts warn of possible sacrifices in the case of low budget revenues. Financial sustainability remains a major challenge in the medium term.
