Transelectrica has declared that the National Electric Power System operates under conditions of safety and balance, even after the shutdown of Unit 1 of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant, caused by the decrease in the Danube's flow.

The company estimates a peak consumption of approximately 7,300 MW for this week, which is 700 MW less than in previous weeks, due to the holiday period. Domestic production is estimated between 4,000 and 4,300 MW, and the difference will be covered by commercial imports. Transelectrica constantly monitors the energy market and available production capacities, being prepared to implement measures to maintain stability.

Additionally, new production and storage capacities of 324 MW will come into operation, and other projects with a total capacity of 990 MW are at various stages of completion.

The Ministry of Energy has emphasized that the shutdown of Unit 1 will not affect the supply to consumers and will not lead to price increases.
