The Ministry of Finance has announced the approval of a Government Decision that increases the ceiling for refundable financing for local public administration authorities to 3 billion lei for the year 2026. This measure allows administrative-territorial units to contract loans to support public investments, thus contributing to the prevention of financial blockages and increasing budgetary predictability.

Alexandru Nazare, the Minister of Finance, emphasized that the increase is a concrete necessity, considering the high utilization of the previous ceiling of 2 billion lei, which was almost completely authorized. The decision aims to ensure the continuity of local projects and maintain fiscal discipline, with ceilings of 2 billion lei for the years 2027 and 2028. The normative act excludes financing for the pre-financing of projects from non-reimbursable external funds and the refinancing of local public debt.
