Brussels intends to implement a new legal status, called 'EU Inc', to support the establishment and development of businesses, an essential aspect for the European economy. The European Commission will present proposals for this regime, which will operate alongside existing national regimes. The objective is to provide a legal framework that allows entrepreneurs to operate in the entire single market without facing various national systems. The 'EU Inc' status will include simplified digital formalities, reduced capital requirements, and faster processing times, in contrast to the current variability among member states. For example, in Estonia, establishing a company takes only 15 minutes, while in other countries it can take up to two weeks. Although this system could improve conditions for startups, there are concerns about possible violations of labor legislation and the proliferation of shell companies that could facilitate tax evasion. Critics point out that 'EU Inc' will not solve all competitiveness issues, such as high energy costs. Additionally, changes in taxation would require unanimous agreement from member states, which could hinder the approval of the scheme. Supporters, however, believe that the new regime will provide significant opportunities for entrepreneurs and will stimulate investments in Europe.
