The dismissed Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, stated that the economic stability of Romania and maintaining the country’s rating are essential priorities for the interim government, following the vote of the censure motion. Nazare emphasized that Romania is entering a period of governmental interim, but cannot afford an economic interim.
He mentioned the impact of instability on the leu/euro exchange rate, interest rates, and the budget, warning that the markets are monitoring the political situation of the country. The strategic objectives for 2026 include completing the PNRR, accessing funds from the SAFE program, and advancing the accession to the OECD. Nazare emphasized that these objectives depend on stability, predictability, and institutional continuity, which are essential for Romania's credibility on the international stage.
