The Competition Council and the European Prosecutor's Office have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at addressing actions that may harm the budget of the European Union, including fraud in public procurement and anti-competitive practices.
The agreement aims to facilitate the exchange of information and coordination of actions in cases where the same entities are investigated by both institutions. The President of the Competition Council, Bogdan Chirițoiu, emphasized the importance of collaboration to improve the ability to identify and combat harmful behaviors.
The agreement will initially last for three years, with the possibility of automatic extension, and will allow for technical consultations and operational collaborations, respecting the legal competencies of each institution. This initiative is essential for ensuring the proper use of European funds.
