According to a recent draft law, public sector employees whose salaries will decrease following the application of the new salary law will receive a transitional salary difference, paid monthly, until December 31, 2031. This will apply in cases where the monthly salary calculated according to the new law is lower than that of December 2026. The interim Minister of Labor, Dragoș Pîslaru, assured that no employee in the public sector will lose income, and salaries will increase for 56% of public employees. The transitional salary difference will not include salary rights from European projects and will be calculated individually. Pîslaru emphasized that income protection is a fundamental principle of the political agreement, thus countering concerns about possible salary losses.
