The minister explained that embassy postings are affected by systemic problems, mainly due to a lack of recruitment during the pandemic, which led to understaffing in difficult areas. Romania allocates only 0.8% of GDP to the foreign ministry, which is considered insufficient for today's international challenges. The minister announced that once the budget is balanced, it will be essential to re-evaluate the pay scale in order to attract qualified staff to embassies in strategic countries.
