Stellantis is in talks with Chinese groups Huawei and JAC about possible long-term industrial cooperation involving Maserati, its struggling luxury brand, according to sources cited by Reuters. The discussions focus on supporting and developing the brand, but no agreement has been announced so far.

The information marks a new development in Stellantis’ strategy for Maserati, which is going through a difficult period amid weak commercial results and pressure in the premium automotive industry. The company is considering cooperation options with technology and industrial partners to support the brand’s future.

Huawei is known for its technology solutions for the automotive industry, including software systems and platforms for intelligent vehicles. JAC is a Chinese automaker with experience in developing and manufacturing vehicles.

According to Reuters sources, the discussions are still ongoing, and the specific form of any potential cooperation has not been determined. It is unclear whether it would include production, technology, distribution or other activities related to Maserati.

Stellantis has not officially announced the conclusion of a partnership with the two Chinese companies.
