SpaceX, the aerospace company founded by Elon Musk, will be included in the Nasdaq-100 index, according to the announcement from the exchange operator. This move, which will take place before the market opens on July 7, will prompt passive investment funds, including the Invesco QQQ Trust ETF, to buy SpaceX shares.
Although it is estimated that SpaceX will enter with a weight of less than 1% in the index, the limited number of shares available for trading could generate significant purchases. This is one of the first companies to benefit from the new rapid inclusion mechanism in the Nasdaq-100, which reduces the waiting period.
In contrast, SpaceX is still not eligible for the S&P 500 index, as it does not meet the standard profitability requirements and minimum trading period.
