Wael Sawan, the CEO of Shell, warned that Europe could face a fuel shortage starting in April, in the context of the ongoing conflict in Iran. At the CERAWeek conference in Houston, Sawan explained that the negative effects of the war have spread from South Asia to Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia, and now threaten Europe as well. Shell is working with governments to help them implement demand management, storage, and fuel procurement measures. Sawan emphasized that currently, there is more focus on reactive measures, instead of developing long-term energy strategies to ensure the resilience of the energy system.
