In the first 11 months of 2025, Romania exported 13.091 billion kWh of electricity, 32.8% more, while imports increased by 37.4%.

According to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Romania's electricity export increased by 32.8% in the first 11 months of 2025, reaching 13.091 billion kWh, while imports rose by 37.4%, reaching 16.807 billion kWh. Total electricity resources were 63.236 billion kWh, an increase of 3.036 billion kWh compared to the previous year. Production from thermal power plants decreased by 1.1%, while production from hydroelectric plants fell by 18%.


In contrast, production from nuclear power plants increased by 1.3%. Production from wind power plants decreased, while solar energy increased by 1.111 billion kWh. Final electricity consumption was 45.652 billion kWh, a decrease of 0.7%. The main primary energy resources increased by 1.237 million tons of oil equivalent, while domestic production decreased by 2.5%, and imports rose by 11.4%.
