The NBR announced a depreciation of the Romanian leu against the dollar, the euro and other currencies, while gold prices rose.

On August 5, 2025, the National Bank of Romania published the exchange rate, showing a depreciation of the Romanian Leu. The US dollar reached RON 4.3954, while the leu also lost ground against the euro (RON 5.0749), the Swiss franc (RON 5.4254) and the pound sterling (RON 5.8413). In contrast, the price of a gram of gold rose by almost 1.8 lei to 475.5041 lei.
