The Ministry of Finance, led by Alexandru Nazare, is intensively preparing for the upcoming rating evaluation of Romania by Moody's, after Fitch maintained the sovereign rating at 'BBB minus' with a negative outlook. Nazare emphasizes that the stakes are not only to maintain the rating but also to regain a stable outlook, which depends on political stability and budgetary credibility.
He highlighted the importance of a credible fiscal-budgetary plan for 2027, based on predictable and disciplined measures. He also mentioned the reduction of the budget deficit in the first 6 months of the year as a positive outcome.
Nazare called for the support of political leaders to maintain a coherent message of fiscal-budgetary responsibility. Fitch warned that the negative outlook reflects the deterioration of public finances, despite consolidation measures.
