Ivan stated that, following detailed analyses, Romania can supply natural gas to its neighbors, such as Ukraine, Moldova, Hungary, Slovakia, and Austria, having the necessary production capacity for the next 25 years.
Although Romania can cover its domestic gas consumption until 2035, after this date it will require additional volumes. Ivan emphasized the importance of a dual energy strategy, which should include the efficient use of domestic gas for industry and the development of transit infrastructure for gas from other sources, such as those from the USA. He highlighted the need to regulate the price of natural gas in Romania for the local industry and to ensure the transit of gas from Greece through Romania, in order to generate revenue and meet the demands of neighbors without putting pressure on domestic resources. Ivan expressed his dissatisfaction with the current situation, in which Romania has gas but cannot capitalize on this potential.
