The 3-month ROBOR recently fell to 6.88% and the 6-month ROBOR fell to 7.00%, the lowest since 2025. The rates rose significantly after the first round of elections, reaching record highs in May 2025, but started to fall after the intervention of the Competition Council on possible interest rate manipulation. In 2022, ROBOR reached all-time highs, but the trend reversed with values of 6.34% and 6.43% in November 2023. ROBOR reflects the cost of borrowing between banks and the IRCC is regulated by OUG 19/2019, with a value of 5.55% per annum.
