The Minister of National Defense, Radu Miruță, stated that Romania needs to reduce its dependence on imports in the field of Defense, proposing the revitalization of the domestic defense industry.

This opinion was expressed in a statement from Turkey, after a visit to Turkish Aerospace Industries, an industrial platform dedicated to military aeronautics. Miruță emphasized that Romania is already collaborating with Turkey in this field and that it can take over the experience of this country, which has invested in building a national defense industry to avoid the strategic risks of dependence on imports. He mentioned the SAFE measure, which conditions purchases on the production being carried out in Romania, as essential for revitalizing the factories left forgotten.

The minister agreed with Turkish officials to organize a meeting between Romanian and Turkish companies in the defense sector, emphasizing the importance of a national strategy supported by all parties.
