Economists at PKO Bank Polski SA have observed an increase in fuel sales in Poland, by 13.4% in April compared to March, against the backdrop of government measures that include reducing fuel taxes and capping prices at the pump.
This trend has been driven by increased demand from drivers in neighboring countries, who choose to refuel in Poland, where the average price of Eurosuper 95 gasoline is 1.49 euros, the lowest in the EU after Malta. The Polish finance minister announced that the measures program will be extended, costing taxpayers approximately 1.6 billion zlotys per month.
Orlen SA, the main fuel retailer in Poland, stated that sales have not been significantly affected by tourists.
