Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan explained that capping fuel prices is not a viable option, as it could affect relations with the European Union and could generate immense debts. He emphasized that, although the energy aid scheme has ended, Romania still has billions to pay to companies in the sector.
Bolojan mentioned that to implement such a measure, fiscal resources would be needed, which is not the case at present. However, the Prime Minister assured that the Government will intervene if prices continue to rise, without specifying in what form. He also announced a meeting with the management of OMV to discuss solutions related to the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
